Toshiba REGZA 37HL67 37-inch 720p LCD HDTV

We have owned this for about 6 months now and haven’t had any problems. THe picture is beautiful, can look a bit pixelized if your too close but I do believe this TV is meant to be viewed at around 10 - 15 feet away. The sound is nice, could be a bit more powerful but most people (including us) go through a stereo these days.

We have digital cable and it looks great, DVD’s great also. Those are really the only two we’ve tried on it, I would imagine analog cable wouldn’t look too bad nor would VHS tapes. It does take a bit long to power up, but no more than 30 seconds if I had to guess, it’d be more like 20. We bought this on sale when it was just 800/850ish which is an amazing value compared to other LCD’s of it’s size. We did order it through amazon with the extended warrenty, which I suggest. It was delivered rather quickly and amazon hires out a company to come delivery and set it up for you.

Set up looked easy to me, and I probably will be able to do it again by myself easy. There are enough inputs for our cable, dvd/vhs player and PS2 and then some. I did my research and I couldn’t be happier with what we paid!

Toshiba REGZA 52HL167 52-inch 1080p LCD HDTV

I ordered and received this set about a week ago through one of Amazon’s partners (the one currently being used at this writing). Anyway, more about the set and the free delivery later. Both the decision to buy this TV and the method of delivery were extremely important to me for budget considerations. And nerve wracking! But I’d had my eye on this Toshiba for over 6 months and now I believe it’s been discontinued; which made my stress levels even higher!! My advice? Buy it as soon as you can!

The set itself is my dream come true. The picture is phenomenal compared to the others I’ve viewed in this size range (Sony, Samsung and Sharp). The picture is simply…better. Very black blacks! Incredibly sharp and bright, with no banding, ghosting. Standard TV and DVD replay is good, not great. This set apparently plays exactly whatever “feed” it gets. So it can be spectacular one moment or not so sharp the next (though standard reception still is watchable). It’s the HD reception that “knocks your socks off”! And I can see no “blur” on fast action sequences, whether with sports or movies when it’s getting HD reception. The non-glare screen is another big plus! No reflections of the lamps behind you, sun, etc. on this set. It’s crystal clear, bright and sharp in any room light. What can I say? I love this Toshiba!

Now about the shipping. It was “free” and to “my door”. The driver was very professional and friendly. Unloaded the set for inspection and helped me look it over, in depth. It was perfect. So I say “congrats” to Amazon and Sixth Ave. for selling and delivering a great product to me for about a grand or more less than the retail stores here. Don’t miss this opportunity if you’re looking for a great 52″ HDTV!

Onkyo TX-SR575S 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Silver)

Overall the Onyko tx-sr575 is a nice receiver. It received a recommended buy from Home Theater Magazine who I highly respect. The few minor complaints are that the remote buttons are very small and the volume has to be turned way up, ~ 20, to be heard.

However, for $299, it’s a great buy and I would buy it again after having it for 6 weeks of testing. The sound from the system is crystal clear. Also, you can choose either 5.1 or 7.1 depending on how many spoeakers you want to use.

Onkyo TX-8522 100 Watt Stereo Receiver

I’ve had this receiver for a few months and enjoy listening to it. I’m a conservatory-trained musician, and listen to mostly classical, some folk. My previous amp was an old NAD which I’d found on eBay — wonderful sound, but it had become unusable. When I first tried the Onkyo I wasn’t convinced, however after setting it to direct audio mode the sound was much better, and that’s where I keep it. I have Bowers & Wilkens bookshelf speakers and a Yamaha subwoofer. The only thing the NAD had over this is that it was probably a little warmer sounding, but the Onkyo is very clean and full and the sound has a lot of quality to it.

Powered Sub Wolfer hook up in the back, a great buy, period. Plenty of audio selections to get the sound you want for any occasion. Amazing for pcmi 7.1 surround sound videos (War is one of them.) Or games, make you in the action like you wouldn’t believe. You will love it. I know I do and all my friends are now watching movies at my house.

Bought the Eureka 431 BXZ Optima Lightweight Upright vacuum and so far, I’m impressed. Unit was very small and appeared “rinky dink” but it has worked great on my carpets and on my bare floors. The waste canister is very easy and “mess free” to empty. I was very amazed at all of the dust, dog hair and birdseed that it picked up from my caprets and floors. I was really disgusted by all of the dirt & dog hair that my previous vacuum cleaner was obviously not picking up. Little unit has great suction and cleaning power. At first I was disappointed by the small vacuuming path but this vacuum easily fits between my furniture, the walls and my table and chair legs. The only drawback is that the front of the unit is a little bulky and the vacuum will not reach very far under chairs, beds or other low furniture. Compact size is very easy to store. This will be a great, inexpensive vacuum if it holds up.

Although most the reviews are for the 4870GZ and I bought the 4870MZ, I suspect the machines are basically the same so I won’t repeat what others have already said about it except to say this is a solid machine with excellent suction and it did a great job on my carpets, both deep cleaning and returning the nap to a plush feel.

I’m writing to say that, contrary to many reviews, the Power Paw does in fact attach to the vacuum. At least mine does. It comes with a clear plastic cover that attaches to the vacuum just below the top D-handle. If you look closely you’ll find the mating point. You then simply clip the paw into the cover and it stores on the handle.

Also, contrary to some reviews, the bare floor setting works fine. You just need to press the tab hard until you hear a click and it engages. The brush is then disabled for bare floor vacuuming.

I really wanted to justify a Dyson but at 1/3 the price, this machine is all that I need. I’m extremely satisfied with the purchase.
